
TOKYO, Feb. 3 -- Tokyo stocks fell 0.27 percent by the break of Tuesday as soft U.S. manufacturing sector data clouded the outlook for the country's economy.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average was down 47.23 points from Monday to 17,510.81.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange lost 3.05 points, or 0.22 percent, to 1,405. 70.
Major decliners included shipping, airlines and rubber issues.
