BEIJING, May 21 -- A Chinese working team made up of officials from different government departments on Tuesday and Wednesday visited Chinese enterprises ruined in the recent anti-China mob attacks in Vietnam to learn their needs and the security situation there.
The Chinese team also held talks with a Vietnamese group of similar nature headed by Tran Van Nam, vice chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee, according to the Chinese Foreign Affairs Ministry.
Liu Jianchao, head of the Chinese team, strongly condemned the violent activities in Vietnam and expressed deep discontent with the Vietnamese side for not taking effective measures to protect Chinese companies and workers.
The Chinese side demanded that Vietnam punish the perpetrators, compensate the ruined Chinese companies, properly deal with issues concerning the death of a Chinese worker, and take concrete and effective measures to ensure the safety of the Chinese companies and workers there.
Nam vowed that the Binh Duong provincial government will bring those responsible to justice and compensate and provide subsidies to the affected Chinese companies in accordance with law.
He said the Binh Duong provincial government will beef up the deployment of police force and enhance information reporting to guarantee the safety of Chinese companies and their working staff.
The team members from the Chinese Ministry of Public Security held separate talks with officials of the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security.
