"On the occasion of your reelection as president of the Republic of South Africa, I wish to extend to you, on behalf of the Chinese government and people and in my own name, warm congratulations and best wishes," said Chinese President Xi Jinping in a congratulatory message.
"The victory of the African National Congress(ANC) in the election and your reelection as president strongly testify to the South African people's recognition of the ANC's accomplishment in governing the country as well as their confidence in you personally," said Xi.
The Chinese president, who has decided to dispatch Minister of Civil Affairs Li Liguo to Zuma's inauguration ceremony, said he is ready to work with Zuma to raise the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership to a new height.
In his message, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang hailed South Africa's national development over the past two decades, saying China and South Africa enjoy a profound traditional friendship and fruitful cooperation in various fields.
"I am ready to work with you to advance the bilateral practical cooperation in all areas and inject a new impetus into our comprehensive strategic partnership," said Li.
South Africa's parliament on Wednesday re-elected Zuma for a second five-year term. He will be inaugurated Saturday in Pretoria.
