In his speech, Xi stressed that more should be done to ensure young people cultivate sound value systems.
"Just like buttoning a coat. If the first button is done wrong, all others will be buttoned wrong," Xi said.
Entitled "Youth Should Voluntarily Follow Core Socialist Values", the speech is published by the People's Publishing House.
The core socialist values refer to the national goals of prosperity, democracy, civility and harmony; social goals of freedom, equality, justice and the rule of law; and individual values of patriotism, dedication, integrity and friendship.
