College graduate launches organic agricultural cooperative in hometownHAIKOU, May 28 -- Suspected food poisoning in a kindergarten in south China's Hainan Province on Tuesday has left 109 kids hospitalized, though none are in serious condition, local authorities said Wednesday.
On Tuesday evening, several children at a kindergarten in Yanfeng Town under Meilan District of Haikou City developed symptoms of possible food poisoning after having lunch, said Zhang Wei, deputy chief of the emergency office with the Hainan provincial health department.
A total of 109 kids have been hospitalized for medical observation as of Wednesday.
Sixty-nine children that were confirmed to have food poisoning were all in stable condition as of 8 a.m. Wednesday, according to Long Ying, chief of the emergency office of the Haikou health department.
The kindergarten has a total of 198 students, all of whom were required to be sent to hospitals for medical observation, according to Long.
The cause of the incident is under investigation.
