(ANSA) - Rome, May 29 - Louis Vuitton has presented in Rome three styles of handmade, limited edition shoes dedicated to Rome, Milan and Venice - symbols of Italian art and culture.
The French luxury brand launched the "tribute to the elegance of Italian women" at the Maison Vuitton Rome Etoile with a cinematic party of soul food, champagne and film screenings. A short film starring the Italian capital and its namesake sandal was presented in the former Roman movie hall. Dedicated to Rome and the actress Nicoletta Romanoff, the movie - which is entitled Love is...Black! - was produced by Glamour magazine, directed by Lorenzo Brigheli and told the day in the life of a woman obsessed by a passion for shoes.
The shoe capsule collection inspired by cities embodying Italian lifestyle is composed of "three shoe models that characterize Italian 'joie de vivre' and its women, their independence and their sensuality, paying patriotic tribute to (Italy's) world class footwear knowhow," Louis Vuitton said in a note. The three models reinterpret the precious handwork and embroidery typical of the the fashion house"s ready-to-wear and accessories in a glamorous, dark tone. Sequins, bows, stones and studs are applied to footwear and totally hand-stitched on soft suede. The flashy elegance and nocturnal glamour of the summer collection pervade the limited edition shoes, giving three classical models a touch of Parisian eccentricity.
To Rome, a symbol to the world of Italian cinema and its Dolce Vita lifestyle, Louis Vuitton dedicates a sandal that evokes wear by a sensual Mediterranean woman.
To Milan, a fashion capital and international showcase for Italian style, Louis Vuitton pays tribute with a revealing model that incarnates a dynamic woman with a strong character. For the mysterious, decadent Venice, the fashion house has created a tasseled loafer embroidered with crystals and stones - the perfect shoe for for tackling the maze of Venice's narrow streets and bridges in elegance. The three, limited edition shoe models are entirely handmade in Italy by the Manufacture de Souliers Fiesso d'Artico, in heart of the Riviera del Brenta, the cradle of shoe-making savoir faire since the 13th century, and manufacturing centre for all of Louis Vuitton"s footwear for men and women. Complex patterns are rendered possible thanks to the well-known manual skill of the fashion house's craftsmen. Seven hours per pair are required for embroidery on the uppers, which are entirely handmade without the aid of machines.
The shoes on average see the application of 250 tiny beads, sized between 3 and 4 mm each, and dark ruthenium studs - details taken from the spring-summer 2014 collection - and are branded with the Louis Vuitton brand as well as the city to which the model is dedicated.
