BRUSSELS, June 5 -- Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) on Thursday expressed support to new leadership in Ukraine and planned to enhance cooperation in the field of energy, trade and climate change.

Speaking at a press conference after the summit, European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said that G7 stands united behind Ukraine and its new leadership, politically and economically.

Barroso also urged Russia to take concrete and credible measures to de-escalate situation in Ukraine.

"We stand ready to take further action if that's necessary," Barroso added.

The G7 leaders also focused on implementation concrete policy to boost growth.

"Supporting growth and jobs remains our top priority," European Council President Herman Van Rompuy said at the press conference.

"Advanced economies are recovering, but continued and sustained growth is needed to bring down unemployment, particularly among young people and the long-term unemployed," Van Rompuy added.

G7 will present ambitious and comprehensive growth strategies at the G20 Summit in Brisbane, to include action across a broad front including in the areas of investment, small and medium enterprises, employment and participation of women, and trade and innovation, in addition to macroeconomic policies, according to a joint statement issued after the meeting.

Van Rompuy described trade and investment as key engines for jobs and growth.

"We (G7) reaffirm our commitment to keep our markets open and to fight all forms of protectionism," said Van Rompuy.

Speaking of energy security,the G7 leaders said they will conduct assessments of their energy security resilience and enhance joint efforts, including on critical infrastructure, transit routes, supply chains and transport.

The EU, whose energy security went into trouble with Ukraine crisis,set plan to develop emergency energy solutions for winter 2014-2015 at a regional level.

As to the climate change issue,the leaders said they will communicate their intended nationally contributions well in advance of the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties (COP21) in Paris by the first quarter of 2015.
