EIJING, June 5 --- Egypt was in need of more support from China, the Egyptian Ambassador to China Mr. Magdy Amer said Thursday at the sideline of the opening ceremony of the sixth ministerial conference of the China-Arab States Cooperation Forum (CASCF) in Beijing.
"We have heard of lots of voices," said Mr. Magdy Amer, "But actually, Egypt and other Arabian countries are in need of infrastructure and investment support from China."
He gave this comment when asked whether China's investment and construction in Arabian states should be regarded as some kind of neo-colonialism by western media.
"There are so many constructions here, but we need China's support, it is beneficial and we invite Chinese companies to participate in Egypt's constructions," said Mr. Magdy Amer.
He also believed that the cooperation between China and Egypt would not be influenced by the so-called instable factors in Egypt and other Arabian states, after ex-military chief Abdel- Fattah al-Sisi won a landslide victory in the presidential election on June 4, 2014.
"The transition of Egypt is about to end and we now have a new president," said Mr. Magdy Amer, "our cooperation will be further promoted."
Besides, he also commented on the people to people exchange between China and Egypt.
"We have thousands of, thousands of Egyptians learning Chinese now. We have the similar generation, and people to people exchange is a good thing for both countries' tourism, commerce and cooperation." he said.
There are over 10,000 Arabian students learning Chinese now in China, as quoted from CCTV.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the CASCF. The forum will focus on the building of the Silk Road economic belt and the 21st century maritime Silk Road, and promoting mutual development..
The concepts of the Silk Road economic belt and the 21st century maritime Silk Road were put forward by Xi during his two separate visits to Central Asia and Southeast Asia in 2013.
Xi made a key note speech at the opening ceremony of the sixth ministerial conference of CASCF, which called on the two sides to carry forward the Silk Road spirit and deepen their cooperation.
