NEW DELHI, June 12 -- A 25-year-old woman was allegedly gangraped by three men in a moving car late Wednesday night in the Indian capital of New Delhi, police said Thursday.
According to police, three people have been arrested in the case.
"The victim approached the police Wednesday night and filed a complaint against the trio who, she said, had raped her inside a moving car in the national capital," a police officer said, on condition of anonymity.
A probe has been ordered into the incident to ascertain the facts, he added.
Gangrapes are growing in the Indian capital, despite the central government last year bringing in tougher laws to punish sexual offenders.
The laws were made stricter in the wake of the brutal and fatal gangrape of a 23-year-old medical student by six men on a moving bus in December 2012.
