BUENOS AIRES, June 11 -- Argentine President Cristina Fernandez said Wednesday she hoped the trophy of the Brazil World Cup, which begins on Thursday, "stays in Latin America."
"Let's enjoy it and I hope the trophy stays in Latin America!" the president said.
In her social network Twitter, Fernandez wrote to her Brazilian counterpart Dilma Rousseff, "On behalf of all the Argentine people, we have no doubt that Brazil 2014 will be a true celebration."
"Like you said yesterday, it will be a World Cup of peace, tolerance, diversity, dialogue and understanding. And I add, also of integration", Fernandez said to her colleague.
The Brazil World Cup will start Thursday morning with Brazil against Croatia Group A, while Argentina will debut on Sunday against Bosnia in Group F.
