China's homegrown regional jet ARJ21-700, coded 105, has accomplished its maiden flight in Shanghai on Wednesday. It will be the first airplane to be delivered to its first user Chengdu Airlines.

The plane rolled off assembly line on December 30, 2013 and conducted low-speed and medium-speed taxiing on June 14. It successfully finished high-speed taxiing and first flight on June 18.

ARJ21-700 is China's first domestically made regional jet with turbofan engine. It is made by the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC). It is in the process of getting the verification of airworthiness by Civil Aviation of Administration of China and Federal Aviation of Administration of the U.S.

The airplane passed test flights in natural icing conditions in Canada on April 28 and completed a 30,000-kilometer test mileage worldwide. During the flights, the anti-icing and de-icing functions of the jet's wings, windscreen and engine nacelle were tested and flight data were collected.

COMAC has so far received orders for 252 ARJ21-700 jets from 13 customers at home and abroad.
