HONG KONG, July 8 -- Customs officers arrested a 27- year-old truck driver for smuggling illicit cigarettes, Hong Kong Customs and Excise Department said Tuesday.
Officers seized around one million illicit cigarettes concealed in fake ovens on the truck at Man Kam To Control Point, according to a statement on the department's website.
The haul was worth 2.7 million HK dollars (348,387 U.S. dollars) , with a duty potential of 1.9 million HK dollars.
The department called on residents to call 2545 6182 to report illicit cigarette activities.
