Xi's visit to Latin America will strengthen cooperation among BRICS countries, raise bilateral and overall relations between China and Latin American nations including Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela and Cuba to a new level, and make a positive contribution to promoting peace, stability and development in this region and the world at large.
Chinese president Xi Jinping started his visit to Latin America on July 13, 2014. During the tour, he will attend the sixth BRICS Summit and a meeting between Chinese and Latin American and Caribbean nations' leaders and pay state visits to Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela and Cuba.
The BRICS countries are widely regarded as an important engine to address the international financial crisis and propel the development of the world economy, resulting in a change of sources of world wealth. China, a firm supporter of and active participant in BRICS cooperation, is committed to making the cooperation with other BRIC countries a foreign policy priority. The leaders of BRIC countries will work together to sum up the experience of cooperation, build the vision of the future planned cooperation, make BRICS a comprehensive coordination mechanism to address the important issues concerning world politics and economy, build closer economic partnerships, drive better development of pragmatic cooperation in all areas, and strengthen dialogue and cooperation with South American nations.
China, Latin America, and the Caribbean nations are an important part of the developing world and the international emerging powers. In the past few years China and Latin American nations have promoted the rapid development of overall relations, strengthened mutual political trust, expanded economic and trade cooperation, enriched cultural and educational exchanges, strengthened coordination in international affairs, and substantively advanced overall cooperation.
Chinese leaders and the Latin American leaders are united in their efforts to blueprint future planned development, which has great significance for the all-round and in-depth development of the relations between China and Latin nations and demonstrates the shared aspiration to develop friendly relations and cooperation in all areas.
