Chinese President Xi Jinping has arrived in Fortaleza in Brazil for a summit of the BRICS countries.

This is the second time Xi has attend the BRICS summit and his second visit to Latin America since he took office last year.

He said that China firmly supports and actively participates in cooperation among BRICS countries.

The BRICS — Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa —account for 21 percent of global economic output and have contributed more than 50 percent of world economic growth in the past decade. Their sixth summit will be held from Tuesday to Wednesday.
