XINING, July 18 -- Four people were killed and six others were injured when a pickup truck went off a road in northwest China's Qinghai Province on Friday, local police said.

The accident happened at around 9:40 a.m. in Huangzhong County when the three-wheeled truck carrying 10 people in its cargo box turned over and slipped off the road.

Four women died at the site. Four other women and two men were injured, according to the traffic police team under the provincial public security department.

The injured have been hospitalized and are in stable condition.

Police are investigating the cause of the accident and the identity of the victims.
