BEIJING, July 30 -- Senior Chinese leader Liu Yunshan on Wednesday called for the Party's "mass-line" campaign to be properly implemented with rules and regulations.
Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Central Committee's Political Bureau, made the remarks at a meeting concerning the second stage of the campaign.
He said implementation should proceed through establishing systems and regulations to address people's demands. Targets, responsibilities, and a timetable for rectification work should be set out.
The campaign was launched in June last year to make the government more accessible to the public while cleaning up officials' undesirable work styles.
The second phase is scheduled from January to September this year, targeting low-level departments and leaderships, while the first phase focused on central and provincial-level departments.
Liu said rectification should target practical issues to safeguard interests of the people. Problems concerning corruption, extravagance and other irregularities should also be resolved.
