BEIJING, Aug. 1 -- A senior Chinese official will go to Colombia for the inauguration ceremony of Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos next week.

Yuan Guiren, Chinese President Xi Jinping's special envoy and Minister of Education, will be in Colombia from Aug. 6 to 7, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang announced on Friday.

Santos won a second four-year term in the presidential election runoff in June, which enables him to continue peace talks with rebels to end a half-century war.
