PHNOM PENH, Aug. 5 -- Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has expressed his deepest sympathy to the victims and members of the bereaved families in a massive earthquake in China's southwestern Yunnan Province.
"I feel extremely saddened to learn about the loss of hundreds of lives, many injuries and colossal damages due to the powerful earthquake in Yunnan Province, southwest of China, on Aug. 3," Hun Sen said in a condolence message sent to Chinese premier Li Keqiang, which was released to the media on Tuesday.
"On behalf of the government and people of Cambodia and in my own name, may I convey to Your Excellency and the people of China, particularly to the victims and members of the bereaved families my deepest sympathy and profound condolences for the tragic loss and great suffering brought about by this natural disaster," he said.
The 6.5-magnitude quake hit Yunnan province on Sunday, leaving at least 410 people dead and 2,373 others injured as 12 are still missing, according the latest figures released by the Chinese authorities on Tuesday.
