LUDIAN, Yunnan, Aug. 8 -- With two more bodies retrieved, the death toll from a 6.5-magnitude quake in southwest China's Yunnan has risen to 617 as of Friday afternoon.
According to the local quake relief headquarters, 526 reported deaths were in Ludian County and 78 in Qiaojia County. The quake also caused one death in Zhaoyang District and another 12 in Huize County.
A total of 112 people remain missing and 3,143 were injured as of 3 p.m. on Friday, the headquarters said.
The deadly quake occurred at 4:30 p.m. Sunday (Beijing Time) with its epicenter in Longtoushan Township, Ludian.
