BEIJING, Aug. 8 -- An official from Haidong City in northwest China's Qinghai Province has been expelled from the Communist Party of China (CPC) and removed from public office for taking bribes, the CPC's Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) said on Friday.
Dong Pu was found to have abused his post and sought benefits for other people during his tenure as deputy director of the economic and trade commission of Qinghai Province, a member of the standing committee of the CPC Haidong municipal committee, and an official of a Haidong industrial park, according to the CCDI.
Dong allegedly accepted bribes worth more than 3.3 million yuan (about 532,000 U.S. dollars) and monetary gifts of 200,000 yuan. He seriously breached Party discipline and is suspected of committing crimes, the CCDI said in a statement on its website.
Dong's case has been transferred to judicial authorities.
