JINAN, Aug. 26 -- An official was confirmed dead after "falling" from a government building in eastern China's Shandong Province, the local authority said on Tuesday.
Police identified the man as Sun Zhongcheng, deputy head of the finance bureau of Zaozhuang City. Sun left a note in his office, before falling to his death on Monday night. Police have ruled out the possibility of murder.
Further investigation is underway.
China has seen a number of officials involved in apparent suicides in the last two months, highlighting the psychological pressure involved in the job.
On July 30, a man was confirmed dead after falling from a government building in eastern China's Hangzhou City. ID cards found in the pockets of the man identified him as Zhao Jilai, former director of Hangzhou Economic and Information Technology Commission.
Six local officials were reported to have committed suicide nationwide in July. Two of them, Zhang Bocheng, a health bureau official in Henan Province, and Wang Yunqing, a senior state-owned assets administration official in Hubei Province, suffered "serious depression", according to their suicide notes.
On June 5, Chen Baifeng, vice mayor of Weifang City, Shandong Province, hanged himself in his house. Relatives said he had been "depressed" for many years.
