WUHAN, Sept.1 -- A man jumped off a building after killing three and injuring six others Monday morning in a primary school in central China's Hubei Province, the local government told Xinhua.

A knife-wielding man surnamed Chen broke into the Dongfang Primary School in Yunxi County and committed the slaughter at around 10:20 a.m Monday, according to the information office of Shiyan City, which administers the county.

Chen stabbed and injured nine people, including eight pupils and a teacher, before committing suicide. Three of the injured later died, and Chen also died on the spot.

The wounded have been hospitalized and police are investigating the case.
