HONG KONG, Sept. 10 -- The government of China's Hong Kong on Wednesday approved from the Disaster Relief Fund grants totaling 13.286 million HK dollars to earthquake victims in Yunnan Province.
A government spokesman said that the Disaster Relief Fund Advisory Committee hoped the grants dedicated for providing relief to the earthquake victims in Yunnan, would facilitate the provision of timely relief to the victims and help them return to normal life.
The grants, together with those approved earlier, will take the cumulative value of grants for earthquake victims in Yunnan to 22. 673 million HK dollars.
"To ensure that the money would be used for the designated purposes, the relief agencies would be asked to submit evaluation reports and audited accounts on the use of the grants after the relief projects have been completed," the spokesman added.
