BEIJING, Sept. 10 -- Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying on Wednesday refuted reports about a conflict with a Vietnamese fishing boat in the Xisha Islands in the South China Sea as "incompatible with fact".
Hua told a daily press briefing that on Aug. 15, a Vietnamese fishing boat illegally entered China's Xisha Islands to catch fish with dynamite.
She said China's law-enforcement people boarded the Vietnamese boat for inspection and confiscated the dynamite aboard.
Hua said the Xisha Islands are within undisputed waters under Chinese jurisdiction. She urged the Vietnamese side to strengthen control of its fishing boats and stop them from conducting illegal fishing in the waters of China's Xisha Islands.
