YANGON, Sept. 11 -- Chinese rescue team has voiced readiness to conduct search operation over two missing Myanmar mountaineers out of eight, a facebook website release of the Chinese Embassy said here Thursday.
The two Myanmar mountaineers, who are expedition leader Aung Myint Myat and manager Wai Yan Min Thu, were reported missing on Mount Hkaka Borazi in Myanmar's northernmost Kachin state along China-Myanmar border and having lost contact with the rest of their team for the past 10 days since Aug. 31.
On hearing the news, the Chinese Embassy in Yangon and China- Myanmar friendship Association immediately acted upon the request of rescue from the Myanmar side.
At present, the Blue Sky Rescue Team, which is China's largest civilian rescue team, has organized 2 panels and stands ready for the rescue operation.
They are waiting for more detailed information regarding the missing mountaineers from the Myanmar side.
Eight mountaineer set out for the mountaineering trip on July 31. Of them, two went missing after they reached the summit of Mount Hkaka Borazi at about 4:20 pm (local time) on Aug. 31.
The remaining six had descended to the base of the mountain on Sept. 9 and search for the two missing climbers has been underway, according to local sources.
Hkaka Borazi is located in the eastern Himalayas in Kachin state at the point where the country connects both India and China. A geological survey carried out in 1925 measured the mountain at 5, 881 meters, also known as the highest in the country and all of South East Asia.
