BEIJING, Sept. 16 -- China's top political advisor on Tuesday urged a Chinese religious organization to better promote world peace and international religious exchange.
Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, made the remarks at a session of the China Committee on Religion and Peace (CCRP).
Yu stressed the CCRP's role in improving international understanding of China's religious policies.
He also called for efforts to adhere to the religious freedom policies of the Communist Party of China and administer religious affairs in accordance with law.
He called on the CCRP to better act as a bridge between the Party, the government and the religious circles.
At the CCRP session, Pagbalha Geleg Namgyae was reelected the organization's president.
Founded in 1994, the CCRP is a member of the Asian Conference on Religion and Peace and the World Conference on Religion and Peace.
