Murder suspect escaped from Terminal 3 of Beijing Capital International Airport while being transported, Legal Mirror reported on Saturday.
The man is suspected of killing one person in a town in Northwest China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region on May 23, 1991. He remained at large until he was caught in Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region on Sept 23.
At 5:30 am on Sept 24, he escaped under escort at the airport.
The suspect changed his name from Liu Xiaoqiu to Yang Xiaojun, with a fake ID registered in Heilongjiang province, when he was on the run for 23 years.
Police in two cities and five provinces in North China have been alerted to assist in the hunt for Yang. Flyers showing the suspect’s profile have been distributed in villages near the airport. A bounty of 50,000 yuan has also been put on Yang’s whereabouts.
