BEIJING, Nov. 9 -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov here on Sunday, exchanging views on the development of closer ties between their two countries and major international issues.
Wang said Russian President Vladimir Putin's attendance at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting and his meeting with President Xi Jinping, will inject impetus to further development of the bilateral relationship.
Lavrov said Russia is willing to promote its coordination and cooperation with China on world and regional affairs and strengthen bilateral cooperation on platforms including the United Nations, Shanghai Cooperation Organization and APEC.
The two ministers exchanged views on the Korean Peninsula and Iran nuclear issues.
Putin arrived in Beijing Sunday morning to attend the APEC meeting slated for Nov. 10-11.
