Russia to launch 70 Proton rockets by 2020: officialNEW DELHI, Nov. 26 -- India is planning to ban sale of loose cigarettes and raise the minimum age for buying cigarettes and other tobacco products from 18 to 21 years, local media reported Wednesday.
The Indian health ministry said that it has accepted the recommendations of an expert panel on tobacco use and abuse, and would soon put up the matter before the cabinet for further action.
"The ministry has accepted the recommendations and a draft note for cabinet has been circulated for consultation," Indian health minister J.P. Nadda told the parliament Tuesday.
Experts say the move is aimed at discouraging smokers.
