BEIJING, Nov. 27 -- The China Air Defense Identification Zone, which was launched over the East China Sea last year, has ensured safety and stability, the Defense Ministry said Thursday.
Ministry spokesman Geng Yansheng made his remarks at a monthly press briefing when asked to comment on the outcome of the zone's establishment.
Over the past year, the Military has strengthened reconnaissance and early warning systems over the East China Sea, strengthened supervision of the area, expedited the investigation and handling of foreign craft's surveillance, and dispatched the Navy and Airforce on normal combat patrols in the sea, he explained.
"Over the past year, [we] have maintained airborne safety and stability over the east sea and safeguarded order in the area," he added.
