BEIJING, Dec. 10 -- The second International Seminar on Human Rights and Museology focused on cherishing peace and safeguarding human rights, according to a statement from the event on Wednesday.
The seminar attracted more than 100 attendees, including Chinese war experts and representatives of warfare museums from 15 nations and regions, including Russia, the Republic of Korea and Brazil.
"Lessons from WWII and its implications on the course of human rights" and "shared responsibility in safeguarding the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War" were among the topics discussed by the attendees.
The statement said the seminar is important because a few countries are trying to reverse the history of aggression and challenge the post-WWII international order.
Huang Mengfu, chairman of the China Foundation for Human Rights Development (CFHRD), said at the seminar that peace-loving nations should keep history in mind and oppose any moves to deny or gloss over wartime history.
Huang hoped Anti-Fascist museums and memorial halls worldwide could strengthen their education on history and human rights in order to promote peace.
The two-day seminar, which began on Tuesday, was jointly organized by the CFHRD and the Museum of the War of Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in Beijing.
The first seminar was held in Chengdu in November 2009.
