SEOUL, Dec. 12 -- South Korea on Friday voiced serious regrets over the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s condemnation of President Park Geun-hye by name.

Unification Ministry spokesman Lim Byeong-cheol told a press briefing that the DPRK denounced chief executive of the South Korean government by name for Park's remarks on Pyongyang's nuclear weapons and human rights. Lim expressed"serious regrets" over it.

Lim said Pyongyang's such speech and behavior candidly revealed what it is, urging the DPRK to look back upon itself to recognize why the international community as well as South Korea is expressing serious worries about its nuclear program and human rights.

The comments came a day after the DPRK's Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of Korea (CPRK) censured Park by name, warning that she should"control her tongue."

Park has said in a recent keynote speech in Seoul that the" North's nuclear development is the biggest factor of instability in Northeast Asia and poses a serious threat to world peace."

The CPRK refuted Park remarks, saying that nuclear weapons are" a shield of justice"from war moves by U.S. and South Korean forces. It also criticized Park's expression of serious concern about the human rights record in the DPRK on Human Rights Day on Dec. 10.
