KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 12 -- Former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad said that the wreckage of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 should be brought back to Malaysia as a matter of right, and Malaysians should examine it in full view of the people.
"After all it is Malaysia which is being sued by the relatives of the victims," he said Thursday in a post on his blog.
Mahathir also expressed his annoyance at "the apparent exclusion" of Malaysia from the investigation of MH17, saying that Malaysia is "only grudgingly permitted" to participate in the examination of the wreck recovered while the plane belongs to Malaysia and the pilots, staff and many passengers on board were Malaysians.
"And it is not even brought back to Malaysia," he added.
He also questioned the surrender of the black box to the Dutch and the British, despite it was firstly handed to Malaysian authorities, which contains tape or electronic recording of the conversations and sounds some minutes before the crash.
Moreover, Mahathir also queried whether there was "something to hide" as to the cause of the crash. Pointing out that no one seemed have seen the missile being fired, or the smoke trails, he suggested firing a missile at an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle to see if it is true that a missile fired from the ground leaves no trail of smoke.
The former prime minister also talked about the missing flight of MH370. "Has it been pulverized into nothing as happened to the aircrafts which crashed into the Pentagon and in Pennsylvania? They left no debris at all," he said.
