SHENZHEN, Dec. 24 -- Three former senior officials in south China's Guangdong Province have been prosecuted for accepting bribes or embezzlement, said local procuratorate on Wednesday.
Li Xinghua, former head of Guangdong science and technology department, was charged with accepting bribes including cash and stocks, said the Shenzhen People's Procuratorate.
The biggest sums of cash which Li accepted was 18.5 million yuan ( 3 million U.S. dollars) and 1.1 million Hong Kong dollars (140,800 U.S. dollars).
Li Yongheng, former head of the Guangdong taxation administration, was accused of accepting bribes totalling 9.4 million yuan and 650,000 Hong Kong dollars.
Xie Xile, a former senior official of the Guangdong Disabled Persons' Federation, was charged with embezzling 7.2 million yuan with others.
The Chinese leadership is pushing an unprecedented campaign to fight corruption, targeting both high-ranking "tigers" and minor "flies".
