GUIYANG, Jan. 4 -- At least one vehicle has been swallowed up by a landslide in southwest China's Guizhou Province, local authorities confirmed Sunday.
The incident occurred at 3:39 p.m. in Erlang village, Xishui County, Zunyi, with debris covering vehicles on a nearby expressway.
More than 30 soldiers and three fire-fighting teams have already discovered a van beneath the rubble. The driver is seriously injured and efforts to extract him from the vehicle are still ongoing.
A rescuer told Xinhua that more people may be trapped. He estimated that there had been at least four vehicles on the expressway.
