
BEIJING, Jan. 8 -- Top Chinese legislator Zhang Dejiang met with Costa Rica President Luis Guillermo Solis on Thursday.
The China-Costa Rica strategic partnership announced by President Xi Jinping and President Solis on Tuesday is in line with the common desires of the two peoples and provides strong impetus for development of bilateral ties, said Zhang.
Zhang, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC), said the NPC is ready to enhance friendly exchanges with the Costa Rican Legislative Assembly.
He called on the two legislatures to promote exchanges of experiences in rule of law and economic development, strengthen information communication in legislation, law enforcement and other areas.
The two legislatures should also support all sectors of society to provide reliable cooperation in various fields.
Solis said the two legislatures should enhance exchanges and promote pragmatic cooperation and strengthen people-to-people friendship.
