KUNMING, Jan. 21 -- The Communist Party of China (CPC) must be run strictly and efforts to address internal problems must not be superficial, Chinese President Xi Jinping has said.
Xi, also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks at a meeting with local-level Party and government officials during a three day inspection tour in southwest China's Yunnan Province, which ended Wednesday.
"The CPC Central Committee maintains its clear-cut attitude to discipline," Xi said, elaborating that this meant: "Making every possible effort, with effective rather than perfunctory measures, to solve problems within the Party."
Xi told the Party officials that not only were further measures needed but they must also be practical.
"Party organizations, regardless of level or field, should take their authority seriously and ensure the rigorous enforcement of rules within their organizations," Xi said.
Management structure must be clearly defined within organizations. "That is an important rule of our Party," he said, stressing that all Party members and cadres should be assigned -- and fulfill -- their role within the Party.
