The import of consumer goods in Shanghai Free Trade Zone amounted to 114.26 billion yuan in 2014, a year-on-year growth of 21.4 percent, 10.7 percent higher than the growth rate of 2013. Shanghai Customs has released a series of new rules to support the import of automobiles, cultural products and other consumer goods, which drove the import volume of the FTZ to a new high.
According to the Shanghai Customs, measures were taken to improve the clearance efficiency of automobiles. At the same time, the roll-on roll-off terminal of the FTP was put into use, which has expanded the handling capacity of the port. The Shanghai Customs also helped enterprises set up special warehouses and exhibition areas for cultural products, so as to lower the operating cost of enterprises. Besides, it actively supported the import of game and entertainment equipment and helped enterprises set up warehouses in comprehensive bonded zone in Pudong airport, so that those enterprises can assembly and distribute the equipment there.
