BEIJING, March 4 -- The People's Daily, the flagship newspaper of the Communist Party of China (CPC), called on the upcoming national legislative session to build consensus for "Four Comprehensives".
An editorial, to be published on the newspaper Thursday, stressed that the system of people's congresses has an unique and irreplaceable part in the strategy to comprehensively build a moderately prosperous society, deepen reform, implement the rule of law and strengthen Party discipline.
Deputies of the National People's Congress (NPC) should fulfill their duty to pool wisdom and offer concrete ideas as well as unite people from all ethnic groups to work together for the targets of "Four Comprehensives", the editorial wrote.
The national and local legislatures should make good laws, step up supervision on the administrative and judicial departments and build up close contacts with ordinary people, it wrote.
It is a tough and long-term task for the NPC to uphold the rule of law and enable common people to actually benefit from the reform, the editorial wrote.
The NPC is to open its annual session on Thursday.
