BEIJING, March 9 -- More than 830,000 people were blacklisted for failing to make court-ordered payments as of the end of 2014, said a spokesman with China's Supreme People's Court (SPC).
Of those who defaulted, 20 percent have since fulfilled their obligations, said SPC spokesman Sun Jungong on Monday.
In 2014, the SPC pushed for the establishment of a nationwide information system and punitive mechanism for defaulters, Sun said.
By the end of 2014, 972,492 defaulters were restricted from buying plane tickets and nearly 100,000 were restricted from applying for credit cards and loans, said Sun.
Sun also said that remote video and online courts handled more than 6,000 cases as of the end of last year.
