BEIJING, March 18 -- Soegeng Rahardjo, Indonesian ambassador to China, said China's “new normal” will bring more opportunities to the world economy.
China's economy has entered a new normal, characterized by slower speed, but higher quality of growth, he said in a recent exclusive interview with Xinhuanet.
The “new normal” will surely help tap the country's development potential and also benefit the world economy, the ambassador added.
“The shifting to ‘new normal' will bring more opportunities for the economy in the world.” he said.
“It is quite slight decrease”, the ambassador told Xinhuanet since the government reduces its GDP growth target for this year to around 7 percent from the 7.5 percent of last year.
But this will help China's manufacturing become more tech-driven, he said, just as Premier Li Keqiangmade it clear “the traditional low-cost manufacturing basis of the Chinese economy is no longer sustainable”.
During the interview, the ambassador also pointed out the importance of cultural cooperation between China and Indonesia.
Revealing his government's new policies to facilitate visa application for Chinese tourists, he said he is sure this will enhance exchange between the two peoples while promoting the tourism brand of his country.
