
SINGAPORE, March 23-- Singapore's President Tony Tan Keng Yam on Monday conveyed condolences to Singapore's PM Lee Hsien Loong and his family on the passing away of former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.
Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is Lee Kuan Yew's eldest son.
President Tony Tan Keng Yam said "The greatest tribute that Singaporeans can pay him is to treasure and build upon the legacy that Mr Lee and his team have left us, and make Singapore an even better home for our future generations."
Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong said Lee Kuan Yew has " bequeathed a monumental legacy to Singaporeans, a safe, secure, harmonious and prosperous independent Singapore."
Singaore's Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Cabinet colleagues also send their deepest condolences to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and the family of Founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, said the Cabinet Office in a statement.
