KUWAIT CITY, May 21 -- China's mega city of Wuhan, central Hubei province, has been picked on Thursday to host the 2019 Military World Games.
Hakeem Al-Shino, the president of the International Military Sports Council, made the announcement at a congress of the organization in the Kuwaiti capital of Kuwait City.
Ma Kaiping, head of the Chinese military delegation, pledged that the city of Wuhan will do all it can to make the sports event a success.
On Wednesday, the Chinese delegation made its presentation to convince the council members.
In the presentation report, Mr. Ma enumerated a list of China's strengths, including its ancient civilization, fast economic growth and rich experience in holding major global sports events, such as the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.
He also said the city of Wuhan has first-class sports venues, adding that the Chinese government and its military have a strong support for the development of the world's military sports.
The Military World Games is a multi-sport event organized every four years by the International Military Sports Council, and the first summer games was held in 1995 in Rome, Italy.
