
Seven people have died and another is missing after a gas leak at a coal mine in central China's Hunan Province on Saturday, local authorities said Monday.
The accident happened at about 2:10 a.m. at Qisi Coal Mine Co. Ltd. in Xinshao County, Shaoyang City while 11 people were working underground to improve the mine's productivity. Three managed to escape and seven died, the city government said.
Rescuers are still searching for the missing person.
