JIAYUGUAN, June 16 (People's Daily Online) – Media dialogue on the fifth Dunhuang Tour-Silk Road International Tourism Festival was held on Tuesday in Jiayuguan, northwestern China’s Gansu province.
With the theme of “Discuss Silk Road tourism; promote Silk Road economy”, the dialogue focused on the opportunities for Silk Road tourism and the role played by tourism in building the Silk Road economic belt.
"The dialogue will help more people to know about Silk Road and attract them to set on their feet on this Road, " said Xie Guoming, Vice Editor-in-Chief of People’s Daily in his keynote speech.
The dialogue aims at exploring new ways and fields for cooperation in Silk Road development by discussing the innovation of tourism under “One Belt, One Road” initiative.
The dialogue is one of main activities of the fifth Dunhuang Tour-Silk Road International Tourism Festival. The festival, which was launched in 2011, plays a vital role in boosting local tourism.
