With the "one belt and one road" strategy moving forward, a platform to gather ideas and suggestions needs to be formed. Journalist of Beijing Business Toady learned at the 4th Global Think Tank Summit that China is planning to take the lead and build an international think tank alliance.
Wang Huiyao, Counselor for China State Council and President of Center for China and Globalization (CCG, a top independent global think tank in China), proposed that a think tank alliance for the countries along the "one belt and one road" is necessary. He stressed that a platform provides convenience for the economic cooperation and development among the countries along the "belt and road."
The importance of "one belt and one road" speaks for itself; however, the more important it is, the more controversial it will get — especially for a strategy that involves multiple countries. A think tank alliance can unite powers from allied countries, research and develop the "one belt and one road" strategy together, and promote the communication and cooperation among participants.
In April of this year, over 50 think tanks in China and research institutes co-founded the first think tank cooperation alliance council for "one belt and one road." Deputy Director of Development Research Center of the State Council Zhang Laiming revealed that based on the principle of equal participation, win-win, and steady promotion, there are many other organizations planning specific measurements with the national and international think tanks.
