Recently, high-speed trains built in Chinese Standards with proprietary intellectual property rights started trial runs in the eastern suburbs of Beijing. The trials indicate that Chinese manufacturers have made remarkable strides in developing key technologies used on high-speed trains.
Reporters of the People's Daily have been onboard the new train. According to He Huawu, Chief Engineer of the China Railway Corporation (CRC), under the sophisticated combination of Chinese national standards, industrial standards, and CRC standards, the "Chinese Bullet-Train Standards" is designed for railway operating environment and standards in China. The new train with speed up to 350 kilometers per hour features a number of new technologies in safety and reliability, which make the train more comfortable and environmental friendly.
A report in The Korea Economic Daily dated June 22 says that Chinese high-end manufacturing industries like high-speed rail and nuclear energy are now rapidly expanding on the world market, "Chinese industry standards have the potential to become world standard."
This February, the country's first design specification standards for high-speed railways were implemented. Experts believe once the new train is put into market, it has a big potential in intercity links and the overseas high-speed rail market.
