BEIJING, July 9 -- The top disciplinary arm of the Communist Party of China (CPC) on Thursday named and shamed officials who had broken regulations relating to "righteous life and work styles".
The CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) released the names of people involved in 131 cases involving accepting bribes, embezzlement of public funds; using official cars for personal activities; lavish wedding banquets; dereliction of duty; rigging elections; and others.
The individuals range from local-government officials to a police officer, the CCDI said in a statement, adding that punishments ranged from warnings to dismissals.
An eight-point rule was introduced by the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee at the end of 2012, to address bureaucracy,formalism and extravagance.
The CCDI has been publicizing these sorts of cases since April2014.
Violations by officials at the local level seriously harm the public, said the disciplinary watchdog, adding policy aims to crack down on corruption and to restore public trust. Enditem
