On July 9th, President Xi Jinping of China, Vladimir Putin of Russia, and Elbegdorj Tsakhia of Mongolia met for the second time. The three approved of the Russian, Chinese, Mongolian Tri-lateral Cooperation Plan. The three countries are all friendly neighbors and are all going through similar developmental stages. How to sustain and increase development together is a topic all three countries must assess. The success of this meeting is like setting up another highway between the Eurasian countries.
During the meeting, President Xi pushed forward a tri-lateral cooperation plan from both a long-term and strategic angle:
"On politics, we need to promote mutual trust, and unite our destinies. In terms of economic cooperation, the three sides must continue to join separate regions in collective collaboration. For society, the three sides should pay close attention to the populace and their communication and exchange. For international affairs, we must promote collaboration to sustain world peace and stability."
Economic cooperation is the main priority and key point for all three sides involved. This means completing the Silk Road and further driving all of Eurasia's development. The road will help local regions and areas in each country grow each others' economies.
While Russia's section will unite its vast countryside, Mongolia has 5 separate projects. Their total investment is $250 billion USD, which includes building the 997 kilometer highway uniting China and Russia, 1,100 kilometers of electric circuitry, and expand Mongolia's train system, as well as natural gas and oil piping.
