Chinese Internet giant Tencent announces its plan of launching a smart phone payment service in Japan by the end of this month. The service is set up for wechat user. A payment can be easily finished when consumers have their two-dimensional codes scanned by the shop. Tencent's move aims at making shopping in Japan more convenient for Chinese consumers. Tencent plans to promote the service to about 10,000 shops in Japan over 3 years. A jewelry store in Okinawa is expected to be the first shop to embrace the wechat payment.
